The GIGA-INTERNATIONAL HOUSE school is at the forefront of foreign language teaching and is a reference centre for the whole of Sicily
We offer general Italian courses from beginner levels (A0) to more advanced levels (C1 and C2), both as group courses and private lessons.
The primary objective of our courses is real communication and an active use of the language rather than the passive knowledge of mere grammatical rules. Italian courses are organised according to a strongly communicative method. For us, the student is at the centre of learning and not a mere robot accumulating passive knowledge of grammar!
To the Italian courses, it is also possible to add extra courses for total immersion in the Italian language and culture:
- Sicily in your Mouth (Sicilian cooking programme)
- Drinking from the cup of Ulysses (wine-tasting programme)
- Walking in the footsteps of Polyphemus (trekking programme)
- Dive into the sea of Neptune (scuba diving programme)
- Nadd-Europe scuba diving licence
- Sea baptism (first scuba diving experience)
- Sicilian ceramics
And two special programmes for a truly total immersion in our language and culture:
- the 'UNESCO Grand Tour' of Sicily programme
- the 'Live and study at your teacher's home' programme
Our school can also assist you and organise your arrival in Catania and your accommodation, on request. GIGA-INTERNATIONAL HOUSE is recognised with Presa d'Atto by the Ministry of Education (today, MIUR), by International House World Organisation, by various Landes in Germany for Bildungsurlaub and by CSN in Sweden. In addition, the school is also an Examination Centre for DITALS, the Certification in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language. Our mission, in addition to teaching Italian as a foreign language, is to offer you a real-life experience in Sicily and a language study stay during which you can discover the great cultural heritage in Sicily and explore its historical places, archaeological sites and artistic events. We want to take you by the hand through History, Art and Culture so that your language study stay in Sicily becomes an experience for life!
